Merlin’s has been a favorite hangout and the bedrock of the queer community in the City of Binghamton since December 2004. Merlin’s for many years was located on State Street but recently relocated to a bigger and much better facility on Court Street, in the middle of downtown Binghamton.
Merlin’s is owned by Lauren Hering, who is the Chief Executive Officer. She is married to Jess Arnold and reside in Johnson City, NY. Lauren’s commitment to the queer community in the Binghamton region is heartfelt and her efforts to enhance the quality of life for LGBT folks goes well beyond the confines of her establishment. She supports many worthy causes and events, such as the Toys for Tots Program and holds/organizes many fundraisers, and participates in the very successful First Friday events. She is a participant in the yearly Pride Palooza, spearheaded by the Binghamton Pride Coalition, held during the month of June. She has also been a staunch supporter of Diversity Rules Magazine since its inception in 2006.
