A trip to Albany is not complete without a visit to the “Sisters” bars. Down on Central avenue in the 70s block you will find Waterworks and Rocks right across from each other.
They have it all from fantastic drag shows to talented Karaoke singers. Any time you get there they both offer 2 large rooms for dancing, drinking, and dreaming They draw the best in the live Albany crowd of all ages.
Rocks is famous for the underwear bois on Friday night during cocktail hour. The staff is among the most friendly I have ever seen in a gay bar.. they see to it that you have a great time.
Rocks has special theme shows and some rallies of support for local leaders. They have Bear nights and special girl events. There is a lively pub room with upbeat music and some of the best video music presentation you will ever see. They always have great drink specials. If you are in town early in the day stop in for a cool one with David. Always some kind of finger food to munch on for free.
Rocks Club room (decorated in early diamond plate) brings on some of the best DJs in the area Dancing is super and there is an adjoining room for a quiet game of pool.. if you like entertainment watch for the weekly theme specials.. They have just celebrated 6 years here. Check it out.
Directly across the street in Waterworks , the older sister of the pair. They have 2 floors of action. There is
always something going on there. Check out Therapy Thursday and their Albany Bears nights. Again as always the staff is there to see that you have a good time. The bar is always rockin with some very personable bar tenders.. There is a cozy lounge area to sit away from the busy crowd. They are known for Craigers and his Karaoke with lots of fun for aspiring singers and their fans. Upstairs you will find a music and dancing experience that will tire out all revelers by the end of the evening. . You will never go home alone and you will be back.
Both bars are big supporters of Pride and fundraising for AIDS research.
So take a night and come on down Central Avenue for some fun big city style.. Keep watching for word on the other great Albany clubs.
