Keep Up Now – Depression

Have you ever been so depressed you didn’t want to get out of bed in the morning?  I’ve been there… it’s not a good place to be.  In fact, it was the worst experience of my life; my darkest of nights seemed eternal.  I lost faith; in life, in myself, in love.  I asked God; what’s the point?  Why did you create a world of disappointment; despair; utter misery?  I waited for the answer…. It didn’t come.
The days turned into weeks and weeks into months, until I hit bottom.  The only good thing about hitting bottom is there’s only one way to go from there… up!  I surrendered my thoughts, my expectations, and my idea of how the world should be.  Suddenly, I began to see things with new eyes; true vision.  I perceived goodness in the least of measures.  There it was; hope.  A little willingness to see things differently was all it took for the miracle to come through.  I took a moment to formulate a personal inventory of all of the things I was grateful for.  A smile spread across my face, the embers of faith began to stir and the light inside my heart glowed once again, warming my soul.  You have to give up the old way of thinking to grow, evolve and become.
In this season of “wonder”, it’s easy to lose sight of miracles. We’re inundated with stress, obligations, and financial burdens.  We close ourselves off to our inherent nature.  We lose faith.  “Miracles are natural.  They are every day occurrences; when they don’t occur something has gone wrong…”  We create miracles; you and me.   It’s our “only” function… to be Love.  Love is the miracle; the gift we have to offer our brothers.  When we aren’t fulfilling our function, we aren’t happy.  We aren’t being true to ourselves.
I have so much to be grateful for.  Every morning, before I get out of bed, I write down five things I am grateful for.  The reason I do this “every day” is I have several people I share this list with, and when they don’t get my list, they wonder what’s wrong.  I’ve made myself accountable!  What are you grateful for?  Don’t lose faith in miracles… instead; share your grateful list with me at keepupnow@gmail.com.
