When I was a child, my mother would say “you can be anything you want when you grow up.” I wasn’t quite sure what her words meant, but it felt empowering. As the harsh realities of life set in, I supposed her words of encouragement were not meant to be taken literally. However, now that I have journeyed midway through my life, I realize the truth in her words. I can be anything I want and it’s up to me to create the life I imagine by tapping into the creative energetic power of the universe.
We’re energetic beings, affecting the lives of those around us without saying a word by communicating with our energetic field. When you walk into a room, the energy you bring with you, affects every living thing around you. In turn, the play of cause and effect comes back to you. You’re creating your life with the energy you bear, manifesting your world, the good and the bad, and reaping the end result; benefits or calamity.
We’ve been domesticated to portray certain behaviors, react to people and situations properly and conform, when we oppose. We consider ourselves “victims of the world we see,” with little power to change the conditions surrounding us. I’m here to tell you, you’ve been mislead.
You are a co-creator of the universe. When you start taking responsibility for your thoughts and emotions, you begin to realize YOU can literally change your world.
Creating your life, however, requires giving up your story. The story you have meticulously groomed your entire life. The one you tell yourself, every day, about who you are. Most of us are so attached to our “story;” we can’t imagine who we would be without it.
My story has changed quite a bit over the years. I was a victim in my younger years, and my story sustained it. After
all, my childhood was thwarted and I was mentally and physically abused during a number of relationships. I was entitled to my story. Sharing my story made me feel better and enabled me to go on being a victim. Nevertheless, one day, I grew tired of being a wounded warrior and I grew angry as I watched life pass me by. That’s when I stopped being a victim and decided to be a survivor.
Subsequently, I spent several years being a survivor. I overcame extreme obstacles, supporting myself and my children and rising from the ashes of my trials and tribulations numerous times. I had a courageous story. Knowing I was a survivor brought me strength and pride. Yet, still, I longed for happiness.
Eventually, I asked the Universe “what is the point of this life? Are we merely to overcome obstacles and learn to survive? What about true happiness?” The answer I received was this; “Don’t look outside of yourself for the answers you seek; everything you need to know is inside of you;” profound, yet simple.
Today I wake up grateful for another day to begin again and the opportunity to manifest happiness and abundance. I see every person as a fellow energetic being and each encounter, another bequest from the Universe. I know, what I share I strengthen; so I’m very careful to share only what I want to increase, knowing it is all inside of me. Today, my story is “Be only Love, for that is what you are.”
What do you want out of this life? Take a long hard look at your journey. Has it brought you happiness? You have the capacity to hurt, or to heal and transform. Take responsibility for the affect you have on others, and ultimately, on yourself. Only YOU have the ability to create the life you truly want to live.
